Its history
Built by the Colonel Maurice du Halgouët and his wife.
After a very successful military carrier, the Colonel Maurice du Halgouët decided to resigned to fully take care of the developpement of the Redon aria.
Mayor of Renac et conseiller général of Ille-et-Vilaine, he was elected deputy the 5 mai 1895 and was continually re-elected until his death (re-elected 6 times). He was one of the most influent person of the beginning of the 20th century in the neighboring region.
With Alice de L’Espée, his wife, they decided to stay in Renac the full time and start the construction of the Brossay estate with the help of the famous architect from Brittany Henry Mellet, to settle their family with their 5 children, and help for the good of the people of Renac.
The castle is one of the most noticeable architectural masterpieces of the region with its choices of materials and the finests designs. The historical elements of the castle have been kept in place, well preserved and restored with taste of the finests craftsmen, especially the parquet floors, woodwork, stone work, and the fireplaces.
